MAN Starts Using Electric Trucks for Vehicle Deliveries

By Jony Shekhawat | Published Date : December 03, 2025

MAN and VEGA use electric trucks for cleaner, quieter delivery of new vehicles.

German company MAN is now using electric trucks to deliver new vehicles. Together with logistics partner VEGA International, MAN is making deliveries cleaner by using trains for main routes and electric trucks for last-mile delivery. This way, the final delivery from the rail terminal to customers has zero local emissions.

VEGA tried two MAN eTGX electric trucks and they worked fine. Now they want to add 30–40 more electric trucks by 2026. Every week, these MAN trucks take about 30–40 new vehicles from the Rheine rail terminal to nearby places, around 300 km, in a clean and quiet way. Using electric trucks here reduces CO₂ emissions by about 2,700 tonnes per year.

How the Delivery Works

New MAN commercial vehicles are first moved by train from MAN’s factory in Krakow, Poland, to Germany. From there, MAN electric trucks take the vehicles to customers. VEGA uses a special loading system to carry trucks up to 4.2 meters high on trains. This combination of rail and electric trucks makes the whole delivery chain much cleaner.

VEGA’s Role and Experience

VEGA, based in Salzburg, Austria, has over 1,000 employees and 10 branches in Europe and Asia. They have been working with MAN for a long time. According to VEGA CEO Franz Blum, using MAN electric trucks helps them understand real-world routes and unloading at different locations. Battery range and operations are working very well.

MAN’s Sustainability Goals

This project, called ‘Electrifying Outbound’, is part of MAN’s bigger plan to reduce CO₂ from vehicle delivery by 30% by 2030. MAN wants all deliveries, including spare parts, to be cleaner in the future. Using electric trucks for last-mile delivery is one big step toward this goal.

Future Expansion Plans

VEGA plans to add more MAN electric trucks not only for MAN vehicles but also for trailers from other companies like Krone and Schmitz. By 2030, VEGA wants the whole outbound logistics chain to be CO₂-free. They are also building charging and solar stations across Europe to support the new electric trucks.

Conclusion

With MAN electric trucks and smart rail logistics, the delivery of MAN commercial vehicles is now much cleaner and greener. This shows how big transport companies can reduce pollution while still delivering vehicles on time.

Q3. Are electric trucks good for heavy work?

Ans. Yes, some electric trucks can carry heavy goods like normal trucks, but charging may take more time.

Q4. Do electric trucks save money?
