Sonipat will soon get 10 new electric buses to make daily travel easier for local people. This decision was confirmed in a meeting held in Chandigarh with the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). Right now, only five electric buses are running from Sonipat Bus Stand to Kundli Border. These new buses will join the Roadways fleet in the coming weeks.
NCR Plan to Reduce Pollution
Sonipat and the NCR side want to stay a bit cleaner now, so the government is trying to add more electric buses in the city. These buses have low running and maintenance costs. Some 40-seater and 50-seater buses will also be added as per the transportation needs of the city.
Need for New E-Bus Depot
For a stronger public transport network, the city also needs a proper e-bus depot. The depot will help in parking, charging and repairing the buses. From this depot, new city bus routes can also start. This will improve connectivity between Sonipat, Delhi-side areas and other important parts of the district. Roadways may also add Eicher buses or Tata buses in the future for better service.
Plan to Run Electric Buses Till Delhi
People travelling to Delhi have been asking for direct buses. Because of this, officials earlier requested 50 new electric buses. Out of this demand, ACS Chandigarh confirmed 10 buses for now. After these buses arrive, Roadways plans to run them on Delhi routes too, not only till the Kundli Border. For months, the Roadways team has been waiting for approval to take the electric buses to Delhi ISBT.
Better Travel for Daily Passengers
Once these 10 new buses join the fleet, Sonipat Roadways will operate electric buses on more routes. Passengers will get cleaner, cheaper and more comfortable travel options. Whether it is Tata buses, Eicher buses, or other 40-seater and 50-seater buses, the aim is simple — smooth travel for everyone.
City Moving Towards Modern Transport
Sonipat is slowly moving towards cleaner and better public travel as more electric buses are coming and the new depot work is starting. These buses will reduce pollution and are the best for eco-friendly vehicle options. For many passengers, the ride will feel safer, smoother, and more comfortable compared to the old system.
