Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd. has completed the acquisition of International Automotive Components (IAC) Group Sweden AB’s assets, giving the company a stronger foothold in the European automotive market. The newly acquired unit will now operate as Artifex Systems AB, generating close to USD 800 million annually.

This move supports Tata AutoComp’s long-term global expansion plan across both passenger and commercial vehicle markets, including future supply possibilities for these truck, Tata pickup, and Tata mini truck platforms.

New Brand, New Strength: Artifex Systems AB

Artifex Systems AB runs three major production plants located in Låssby (Gothenburg), Färgelanda, and Skara. The company has nearly 1,800 workers and supplies interior and exterior systems to leading European manufacturers such as Volvo Cars, Volvo Trucks, and Scania.

Strategic Vision Behind the Acquisition

Arvind Goel, Vice Chairman of Tata AutoComp, said the deal fits the company’s long-term strategy to grow its presence in Europe and deepen partnerships with major OEMs. Tata AutoComp plans to merge Artifex Systems AB, Artifex Slovakia, and Artifex Interior Systems under one brand family to create a stronger identity.

For Tata’s commercial vehicle ecosystem, this can also support improved components for next-gen Tata trucks, Tata mini trucks, and Tata Ace mini truck models in global markets.

Skilled Workforce and Advanced Capabilities

Manoj Kolhatkar, MD & CEO of Tata AutoComp, highlighted that Artifex brings advanced manufacturing technology and a skilled workforce. The company specialises in high-quality interior and exterior systems used in modern Tata commercial vehicles and passenger cars.

These capabilities may eventually support Tata’s growing EV component ambitions, including thermal systems and battery pack technologies.

Diplomatic Support from India and Sweden

The acquisition received strong backing from diplomats of both countries.

  • Anurag Bhushan, India’s Ambassador to Sweden, said the move shows the growing industrial cooperation between both nations.
  • Jan Thesleff, Sweden’s Ambassador to India, stated the deal protects jobs, supports customer stability, and strengthens manufacturing capability.

Tata AutoComp’s Global Footprint Continues to Grow

Tata AutoComp currently operates 21 business units, including 11 joint ventures, managing 66 plants across India, Europe, North America, Latin America, and China. Its portfolio includes interior systems, exterior components, HVAC units, seating systems, and EV technologies — all of which support commercial vehicle makers worldwide, including future upgrades for Tata truck, Tata pickup and Tata mini truck categories.
