TSUYO Strengthens EV Innovation with New Motor and Drivetrain Solutions in India

By Jony Shekhawat | Published Date : February 24, 2026

New drivetrain and motor innovations introduced by TSUYO Manufacturing aim to improve efficiency, durability, and real-world performance for electric 3-wheelers and light commercial EVs in India.

India’s electric vehicle space is moving fast and now TSUYO Manufacturing has taken a strong step by introducing new motor and drivetrain technologies made specially for Indian roads and working conditions. The company recently unveiled its latest solutions aimed at electric 3-wheelers and light commercial vehicles (LCVs), focusing on better performance, durability and lower operating cost.

During the launch, co-founder and CEO Vijay Kumar explained that the company’s main goal is simple — build technology that actually works in Indian weather, traffic and load conditions. Instead of copying global designs, the new systems are engineered keeping Indian operators, drivers and fleet owners in mind.

With electric mobility growing quickly across cargo 3-wheelers, passenger vehicles, mini trucks and last-mile delivery fleets, reliable components have become more important than ever.

Gen 3.0 IPM Motor Brings Better Cooling and Power

One of the biggest highlights is the new Gen 3.0 Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) motor and controller system. According to the company’s official release, this motor delivers stronger power output while managing heat more efficiently. A MOSFET-based controller helps reduce overheating problems, which is a common concern in long-hour commercial operations.

Drivers can operate vehicles for longer durations without a performance drop. At the same time, the system helps save energy and improves driving comfort — something fleet operators always look for in electric cargo vehicles and daily transport use.

India’s First AMT for Electric 3-Wheelers

Another major innovation is India’s first Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) designed specially for electric 3-wheelers.

This new technology improves:

  • Vehicle range
  • Load carrying ability
  • Gradeability (hill climbing performance)

Drivers can now handle slopes more easily even with heavy cargo. The AMT system also simplifies vehicle operation, especially for drivers who work long shifts in city delivery routes or semi-urban areas.

For passenger and cargo electric 3-wheelers, this can directly improve productivity without adding stress on the vehicle.

Magnet-Less Motor Supports Localisation

The company also introduced a patented magnet-less synchronous reluctance motor. This reduces dependence on rare-earth materials, which are often expensive and imported.
Such localisation efforts support India’s push toward stronger domestic manufacturing and cost control in the EV ecosystem.

Alongside this, TSUYO launched a heavy-duty axle system for electric LCVs. The new axle is designed to handle higher loads while simplifying parts management for L3 and Mini-L5 vehicle categories.

A Step Forward for India’s EV Market

These new technologies mainly focus on making electric commercial vehicles stronger and easy to use in daily work. Drivers and fleet owners need vehicles that run smoothly without frequent problems and these upgrades are expected to help in that direction.

As electric mobility is growing fast in India, better motors and drivetrain systems can make vehicles more practical for real transport use. With improved performance and reliability, more businesses may feel confident shifting toward cleaner transport options.
