Girish Wagh from Tata Motors said that India’s trucking industry is going through fast changes. Government policies, new highways and demand for safer trucks are pushing this change. According to him, these electric trucks are built to improve vehicle uptime, reduce ownership costs and help fleet owners earn better from their trucks.
Safety Is a Big Focus This Time
One important thing Tata Motors has highlighted is safety. These electric trucks follow European ECE R29-03 crash safety norms. The cabins are designed to handle frontal impact, rollover, and side impact.
Along with this, the trucks come with many India-focused safety features. Systems like adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning are added to reduce accidents. Whether it is a Tata mini truck or a heavy Prima electric truck, the cabin safety level is much better than that of older diesel trucks.
Tata Ultra E.7T Electric Truck
The Tata Ultra E.7T is manufactured for city transportation purposes. This brand-new Tata Ultra E.7T has a gross vehicle weight of 7000 kilograms and offers a loading capacity of 3.25 tonnes.
The latest Tata Ultra E.7T ha a 96 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery. This battery gives a power output of 322 HP and a high-end torque of 950 Nm. This EV Ultra truck can run upto 150 to 180 kilometres on a single charge, depending on load and driving behaviour. A 14-foot factory-fitted container is available. The Tata Ultra E.12T is the biggest Ultra EV model. It has 12000 kg GVW and a payload of around 6 to 7 tonnes. The mileage range is around 120 to 150 km, which is enough for fixed-route logistics. The load body sizes go up to 24 feet, factory fitted with a dry container. This electric truck is good for FMCG, parcel, and warehouse-to-warehouse movement.
Tata Prima E.55S Electric Prime Mover
For heavy transport, Tata Motors introduced the Tata Prima E.55S electric prime mover. This truck has a 55,000 kg gross combination weight, so it is clearly made for heavy trailers.
It comes with a sleeper cabin, hydraulic cabin tilt, ladder-type chassis, and 4x2 axle configuration. The truck uses an advanced E-axle with auto shift. Gradeability goes up to 28%, making it useful for flyovers and highway slopes.
Tata Prima E.28K LD Tipper
The Tata Prima E.28K LD tipper is slightly lighter but still very strong. It produces 315 HP power and massive 2950 Nm torque. Battery capacity remains between 300 to 450 kWh and follows BS6 norms.
