Tata Motors is still the number one, but in September 2025 company sold 23,827 units, around 4.31% less than last year. Rural demand was a bit weak, and because of the GST rule change, some buyers waited before buying.
Mahindra & Mahindra Showing Strong Growth
Mahindra and Mahindra is also performing well this year. Mahindra commercial vehicle sales rose 13.25% this year. Mahindra sold out around 21126 units till September 2025. Mahindra electric trucks and pickups are also going to be more popular day by day.
Ashok Leyland Stable Performance
Ashok Leyland sold 13,273 vehicles, showing around 4.9% growth from last year. The company’s trucks, buses, and electric models are going steady. Fleet owners still prefer them for long life and low running cost, which is a good sign.
VECV Sales Also Healthy
VECV (Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles) sold 6,355 vehicles, around 4.8% up year-on-year. Demand for medium and heavy trucks increased during the festival time. Electric trucks and pickups are also slowly getting attention in cities for transport and delivery work.
Maruti Suzuki and Others Drop in Numbers
Maruti Suzuki was a little back in sales. Maruti Suzuki sold only 3,277 units and 5.4% lower than last year. The mini truck market had some seasonal ups and downs. BharatBenz sold 1,228 vehicles, around 19% drop, because high-end truck demand was low. SML Isuzu also went down, sold 844 units, around 19.9% less, mostly due to slow rural demand.
Force Motors and Small Brands Growing
Force Motors had a good month with 1,492 vehicles sold, almost 11.26% more than last year. Demand for small passenger commercial vehicles in towns helped them. Smaller brands together sold 702 vehicles, showing 14.15% growth — it seems small players are now getting some market space.
Overall Market Trend
If we take an overall look at the CV sales report of September 2025, Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, VECV and Force Motors perform well. In comparison to the above brands, sales of Tata Motors, BharatBenz and Maruti Suzuki are lower.
Month-on-month numbers thoda kam hue, but year-on-year side still positive. With the festival and Diwali season coming, sales in October and November are expected to grow — especially in the pickup and electric 3-wheeler segment.
