Big news for Chhattisgarh! NHAI finished the state’s first highway tunnel on the Raipur–Visakhapatnam road in just one year. This tunnel is part of a 464 km six-lane highway (NH-130CD) joining Raipur and Vizag. Now travel time will go down a lot, and transport, trade, and all will become easy between Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

The tunnel is built in the border area of Kanker and Kondagaon districts, under the hillside near Odisha. The left tunnel tube is done and will open for the public by March–April 2026. Work on the right tube is still going and will be finished by July–August 2026. When both tunnels open, vehicles of every type — big or small — can pass safely and quickly through the hill area.

NHAI said that this 2.79 km twin-tube tunnel was made ready in only 12 months. They said it’s a big step for India’s road network. The tunnel will help trucks, mini trucks, pickups, electric trucks, and buses to move goods fast. Small transporters will save both time and fuel money.
