India’s Commercial Vehicle Retail Market Shows Strong Growth in October 2025

By Amit Jangra | Published Date : November 20, 2025

India’s October 2025 CV market surged to 1,07,841 units, driven by LCV and MCV growth; HCV declined slightly amid festive season demand.

In October 2025, the commercial vehicle market in India saw a good growth. The CV retail sales reached 1,07,841 units, which is clearly higher than last October when sales were around 91,635 units. So there is almost 17.7% growth and many people in the industry say this month worked better than they expected.

Compared to September 2025 also, the sales jumped a lot. September had only 72,124 units and October suddenly moved up by 49.5%, which shows that festive season buying was strong and many customers finally decided to purchase new vehicles after waiting a long time.

Within the CV category, the performance varied across segments:

  • LCVs were the star performers, with 72,948 units sold, nearly 30% growth from last year.
  • MCVs also showed improvement, reaching 7,177 units (~19% growth).
  • HCVs, however, declined to 27,685 units, down 5.7% from October 2024. Experts attribute this to slow demand in heavy trucks due to some transport routes being down and delays in large infrastructure projects.

Leading manufacturers like Mahindra, Tata, Ashok Leyland, Volvo and Force saw varying performance across these segments, with trucks from Tata and Ashok Leyland driving most of the HCV and MCV sales, while Mahindra and Force strengthened the LCV segment. Volvo continued to cater to the premium HCV and heavy truck market.

Other Segments Also Show Growth

The positive trend was not limited to CVs:

  • Two-wheelers surged past 31 lakh units.
  • Passenger cars rose to 5.57 lakh units, nearly double from September.
  • Three-wheelers also grew across most sub-segments.

Only the construction equipment segment saw a decline, while all other vehicle categories performed well. Overall, retail vehicle sales in India reached 40,23,923 units in October, more than double the sales in September, highlighting the strong festive season boost across the auto market

Positive Market Sentiment

Dealers say that market feeling is good right now and they hope November and December will also stay strong. LCV and MCV demand may continue and HCV might improve if transport load increases.

Overall, October 2025 was a strong month for the CV market and gave some confidence to manufacturers and dealers for the coming weeks.
