This scheme has been started by the West Bengal State Government under the Trinamool Congress (TMC). The main goal is to provide financial support after retirement to transport workers like:

Auto drivers
→ LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) drivers
Bus drivers
→ Truck drivers
→ Conductors
→ Helpers (Khalasi)

Many of these workers do not have any pension or insurance support. This new scheme is a big step to help them live a safe life after they stop working.

What Are the Benefits?

1. Monthly Pension

  • Eligible drivers and workers will get Rs 1,500 every month as pension.
  • If someone stays enrolled for more than 5 years, they will get an extra Rs 10/month for every year after 5 years.

2. Insurance Benefit

  • If the worker passes away, their family will get Rs 2 lakh as insurance money.
  • In case of disability or injury, a compensation of Rs 50,000 will be given.

Who Can Apply?

To get the pension and insurance, these are the rules:

→ Age should be between 18 and 60 years.
→ You must work with a commercial vehicle (like auto, taxi, van, truck, or bus).
→ Only transport workers from the unorganised sector can apply.
→ Your vehicle must be for commercial/business use, not personal use.
→ To receive a pension, you must stay in the scheme for at least 5 years.

How to Apply Online?

You can apply easily through the e-District 2.0 Portal. Here’s the step-by-step process:

→ Visit the official e-District 2.0 portal.
→ Click on “Login/Sign Up”.
→ Scroll down and click “Register”.
→ Fill in your details carefully.
→ Enter the OTP received on your mobile to verify.
→ After registering, log in using your username/email and password.
→ Enter the new OTP and click “Submit”.
→ Go to the Dashboard, select your scheme from the menu and apply.

Required Documents

To apply for the scheme, keep these documents ready:

→ ID proof & age proof (like Aadhaar card or Voter ID)
→ Driving License

Who Will Not Get the Benefit?

→ If you drive a private vehicle for personal use, you cannot apply.
→ You must be a commercial driver or worker.
