Jupiter Electric Mobility launches modular BESS units, entering India’s clean energy market with flexible, containerised storage solutions for industrial and commercial use.
Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), a part of Jupiter Wagons Limited, has entered the clean energy sector with the launch of containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This move marks a major shift from their well-known railway and mobility business.
The new BESS units come in 10-foot and 20-foot containers. These systems are modular, flexible and made for multiple clean energy applications. With this launch, JEM aims to support industries and businesses looking for reliable and green power solutions.

These Battery Energy Storage Systems are available in different sizes, with capacities ranging from 241 kWh to 3 MWh. The units are air-cooled and built to last. Each system has a 10-year operational life, making it a smart investment for companies needing stable energy solutions.
JEM’s BESS can be used for:
- Replacing diesel generators
- Storing solar power
- Shifting energy usage
- Providing backup power
These features make the systems ideal for commercial and industrial customers who want to cut costs and lower their carbon footprint.
First BESS Delivered to Greenlit
JEM has already delivered its first 10-foot BESS unit. This was done in partnership with GMMCO, a company under the CK Birla Group. The system went to Greenlit, a Mumbai-based firm that works in the events, entertainment and hospitality sectors.
JEM and GMMCO plan to expand their partnership and offer these energy storage systems across India. This supports the growing demand for clean and efficient energy in various industries.
Built Entirely In-House
One of the biggest strengths of this launch is that JEM developed the entire BESS system in-house. Everything from container fabrication to battery assembly and system integration was done at JEM’s factories in Indore and Bangalore.
This makes JEM one of the few companies in India offering a fully integrated battery energy storage solution.
The company also plans to increase its Indore plant’s capacity from 1 GWh to 5 GWh over the next three years. In addition, JEM will be exporting its first 20-foot BESS unit to Africa in October. A liquid-cooled version for large grid applications is also in development.
Supporting India's Clean Energy Goals
Leaders from both JEM and GMMCO said the new systems follow international quality standards and are built to last. They believe this is a solid step toward helping India meet its Net Zero 2070 goals.
As more companies look for ways to store renewable energy, JEM’s entry into this space comes at the right moment. With this launch, the company is positioning itself as a serious name in India’s growing energy storage market, bringing forward solutions that are practical, clean and built for the future.
