The Haryana government has prepared a wide plan to improve the air and also make public transport stronger. In the coming time, the state will bring 500 electric buses on the roads, along with new systems that support clean travel.
This complete project is part of the AI for Resilient Jobs, Urban Air Quality and Next Generation Skill mission. The World Bank has approved ₹3,500 crore, and the work will begin in 2026 and continue for five years. The idea behind the project is very simple—move people from old polluting buses to new electric buses and also reduce harmful smoke in busy cities.
NCR to Get 200 New Charging Stations
Under this plan, the state will build 200 e-charging stations in the NCR belt. These stations will be created with help from private groups so the work can move fast. People who travel daily between NCR districts will feel the change because the buses will run more smoothly and more often.
Selected Districts to Receive 500 Electric Buses
The first phase fully targets the NCR area. The government will add:
- 200 electric buses in Gurugram
- 100 electric buses in Sonipat
- 200 electric buses in Faridabad
These buses will directly help thousands of workers, students and daily travellers. With more buses, the crowd will reduce and people will not need to wait for long. Tata buses and Ashok Leyland buses are expected to join this supply, as both brands are already leading companies in electric buses. This will bring quieter, smoother and cleaner travel inside the cities.
Help for 10,000 New E-Auto Buyers
The plan is not limited to buses only. Haryana will also support buyers of 10,000 electric autos. The state will give ₹15,000 to ₹35,000 as an incentive. This step will reduce fuel costs for drivers and also bring down pollution in markets and narrow roads. Electric autos are easy to run in city areas, so this will also improve last-mile transport.
Old Polluting Vehicles to Be Removed
Haryana will slowly phase out 17 lakh old vehicles that create heavy pollution. To check these vehicles properly, the government will set up Automated Testing Stations (ATS) where around ₹210 crore will be spent. After these ATS start working, checking vehicle fitness will become more accurate and quicker.
Industries to Get Real-Time Pollution Tracking
Industries also add to big city pollution. To control this, the state will install CEMS devices on 300 industrial units, which will show real-time pollution numbers. The government also plans to replace old polluting boilers with cleaner fuel options. This will cut industrial smoke and support cleaner air across cities.
