FASTag Annual Pass Fee Set to Rise to Rs. 3,075 from April 1

By Jony Shekhawat | Published Date : March 16, 2026

The highway authority has slightly increased the FASTag Annual Pass fee for 2026–27, raising the price to ₹3,075 while continuing to offer one-year validity or up to 200 toll crossings for eligible non-commercial vehicles.

Highway users in India will see a small change in the FASTag Annual Pass price from the new financial year. The National Highways Authority of India has decided to make a change to the fee for the National Highways Authority of India for 2026-2027.

The National Highways Authority of India is going to start this fee from April 1 2026. Now the National Highways Authority of India annual pass will cost Rs. 3,075, which is a little more than the current Rs. 3,000. The National Highways Authority of India made this change because of the National Highways Fee rules that were made in 2008. The change has been made as part of the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. Officials say the revision is routine and applies to the next financial year.

The FASTag Annual Pass is for cars and other vehicles that are not used for business and already have a FASTag. When you get the FASTag Annual Pass you can drive on highways and expressways without having to add money to your FASTag all the time. The FASTag Annual Pass is good for one year. Until you go through tolls two hundred times, whichever happens first. This is an option, for people who drive between cities a lot.

Many highways have a lot of trucks and other big vehicles driving on them every day. These highways also connect to big industrial areas so it is important that tolls are easy to pay to keep traffic moving. The FASTag Annual Pass helps make this happen for the FASTag.

Available Across 1,150 Toll Plazas

According to NHAI, the annual pass works at nearly 1,150 toll plazas located on national highways and expressways across the country. This large network allows drivers to travel through most major highway routes using the same FASTag system.

These routes are widely used by passenger vehicles as well as small goods carriers like mini truck operators who move supplies between towns and cities. The idea behind the annual pass is simple. Instead of topping up FASTag frequently, users can pay once and continue travelling for a long period without worrying about regular deductions.

Millions of Users Have Already Adopted the Pass

NHAI data says that over 5.6 million people are already using the FASTag Annual Pass since it was introduced. The FASTag system helps to cut down on waiting time at toll booths a lot. Vehicles with FASTag can go through lanes where the toll is taken out automatically. This makes it easy for people to pay tolls while driving. The FASTag Annual Pass and the FASTag system are making travel easier, for users.

Faster movement at toll plazas also benefits the transport sector, especially long-distance cargo fleets that operate electric trucks and other freight vehicles moving goods between states.

Simple Activation Through App or Website

Activating the FASTag Annual Pass does not require a new tag. Vehicle owners can enable the pass on their existing FASTag. To do this, users need to make a one-time payment through the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application or through the official NHAI website. Once the payment is made, the annual pass usually becomes active within two hours. After activation, drivers can continue using toll roads without additional recharge until the yearly validity or toll crossing limit is reached.

FASTag System Changing Highway Travel

FASTag was introduced to modernise toll collection on national highways. The system uses RFID technology to automatically deduct toll charges from a prepaid wallet or linked bank account. Because vehicles no longer need to stop for manual payments, traffic flow at toll plazas has improved in many locations.

As India’s highway network keeps expanding, smooth toll systems are becoming increasingly important for all kinds of vehicles on the road, from passenger cars to commercial fleets and even newer transport options such as electric buses and electric mini trucks used in urban delivery networks.
