Daimler India Sets Up Health Clinic for Truck Drivers in Tamil Nadu

By Jony Shekhawat | Published Date : April 03, 2026

A new clinic in Sangagiri aims to make basic healthcare easily available for truck drivers and local communities.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has opened a physiotherapy and healthcare clinic in Sangagiri, Tamil Nadu. They did this on April 2 2026. The DICV is getting involved in the community. This new clinic will offer physiotherapy and basic medical care to people. DICV is making an impact in Sangagiri, Tamil Nadu. This has been done along with the Smile Foundation.

The idea is simple—bring medical help closer to truck drivers instead of expecting them to go looking for it.

Anyone who has seen truck, pickup trucks or mini trucks drivers closely would understand this. Long routes, odd sleep, roadside food, and constant sitting—it all takes a toll. Still, most drivers don’t stop for check-ups. Either there’s no time, or the facility is too far. Many just keep going until the pain becomes serious.

Why Sangagiri Makes Sense

Sangagiri is one of those places where pickup trucks are always moving. It’s a proper transport belt. So setting up a clinic here isn’t random—it’s practical. Drivers passing through can now stop, get checked, and move on without wasting a full day.

Available Facilities at Clinic

The clinic is expected to help around 13,500 people, mostly from the trucking side. It will stay open six days a week.

Here’s what drivers will actually get:

  • Treatment for back, neck, and joint pain
  • Basic doctor consultation
  • Eye check-ups
  • Regular health screening
  • Help if someone needs bigger treatment

There are doctors, physiotherapists, and other staff present. Records will also be stored digitally, so follow-ups are easier.

Fixing a Common Habit

One big issue in the transport line is the delay. Drivers ignore health problems for too long. By the time they act, it’s already worse. This setup is trying to change that pattern—get checked early, keep things under control, and avoid bigger trouble later.

What the Officials Said

DICV’s Michael Moebius said something very practical—if drivers are not fit, roads won’t be safe either. It’s directly connected. Smile Foundation’s Santanu Mishra also pointed out that people in logistics don’t always get proper healthcare access, and this is one way to improve that.

A Ground-Level Change

DICV, which makes BharatBenz trucks near Chennai is a name in commercial vehicles. The Smile Foundation has been working on healthcare and social support for some time.
But this effort stands out because it’s happening at ground level. Not in big cities, but where drivers actually are.

For drivers, this isn’t just another announcement—it’s something they can actually use during their daily routes.
