IndianOil Limits XP-95 Supply Due to Rising Global Crude Prices

By Amit Jangra | Published Date : March 23, 2026

IndianOil increased XP-95 petrol price by ₹2 while keeping regular fuel prices same. Rising global crude prices are creating pressure, but common users are not affected much.

Indian Oil Corporation increased the price of XP-95 petrol by ₹2 per litre. But regular petrol and diesel price is still same. Many people noticed this because fuel market is not stable these days.

The company shared this update through a public notice on Friday. Since XP-95 is a premium fuel, not every customer uses it daily, so impact is not very big on common public.

XP-95 makes up only around 5% of total petrol sales in India. Because of this, IndianOil decided to adjust only this fuel price instead of increasing all fuel prices. Regular petrol and diesel are used widely in trucks, buses, mini trucks and pickups, so any change in their price can directly affect daily life and transport cost.

By keeping normal fuel prices stable, the company is trying to avoid pressure on transport sector and common people. Still, this step shows that oil companies are feeling the heat from global markets.

Global Crude Prices Creating Pressure

In last 20 days, global crude oil prices have jumped from around $71 to $156 per barrel. This is a very sharp increase, almost double and it is creating big pressure on fuel companies. Many countries already increased fuel prices and some governments even started giving support to control impact.

India depends a lot on imported oil, so when global prices go up, it affects the whole system. Companies like IndianOil have to manage both cost and public demand, which is not easy.

Elections and Fuel Price Decisions

Another important reason behind no change in regular fuel prices is upcoming elections in several states. Fuel price hike before elections can affect people’s daily budget and overall cost of living. Because of this, companies and government usually stay careful in such time.

IndianOil also said that they are working to ensure fuel availability across the country. But they did not clearly say how long this price situation will continue.

What It Means for Consumers

For now, people using regular petrol and diesel will not see any change in price. This is a relief for transport sector, especially for trucks, buses, mini trucks and pickups which depend heavily on fuel.

However, if global crude prices keep rising like this, then some changes may happen in future. Right now, companies are trying to manage the situation, but pressure is clearly increasing day by day.
