Under the programme, eligible vehicle owners can get a 5% interest subvention on vehicle loans from the Central government. State governments will offer road tax concessions, while oil marketing companies will provide monthly fuel vouchers of up to ₹4,800.
Vehicle manufacturers are also expected to give discounts on new purchases, making replacement more affordable for transport operators.
Support Coming From Different Sides
Replacing an old vehicle is not always easy because the cost can be high. This is why support is being offered through different channels instead of a single incentive. For people who own business vehicles getting both benefits together might lower the cost of purchasing a new vehicle. This could make more vehicle owners think about getting models. The plan includes trucks and buses that are still being used on roads in the NCR area.
Focus On Cleaner Vehicles
SIAM President Shailesh Chandra said the effort brings together government agencies, oil companies and vehicle manufacturers with a common goal. The man said that the package of incentives helps people who own vehicles to get cleaner and more efficient models. This will also help to reduce pollution in Delhi-NCR.
As the market keeps changing people are looking at options, like electric trucks. The idea of trucks is getting more popular. Interest is growing in segments like mini trucks, while electric mini trucks are slowly finding space in urban transport operations. The main objective of the programme is simple — help owners replace ageing vehicles and support cleaner transportation across the region.
