Mahindra Reports 36,615 Domestic CV And 3W Sales In May 2026

By Jony Shekhawat | Published Date : June 02, 2026

Mahindra posted strong growth in May 2026, driven by higher demand across commercial vehicles and three-wheelers in both domestic and export markets.

May turned out to be a good month for Mahindra's commercial vehicle business. The company closed the month with higher sales in both the domestic and export markets, helped by strong demand in a few key segments.
While light commercial vehicles continued to contribute steady volumes, the real jump came from 3-wheelers. That category alone gave the sales report a very different look compared with the numbers seen a year ago.

During May 2021, Mahindra sold a total of 36,615 commercial vehicles and three-wheelers across India; this was up from 26,933 units sold during May 2020. The difference between these figures stands out significantly. The company was able to sell thousands more units in one year's time compared to the previous year. The improvement suggests that transport-related demand remained active through the month.

For Mahindra, this was one of those months where almost every major category moved in the right direction.

Demand Remains Healthy In The LCV Space

The company's smaller cargo vehicle business also had a decent month. The total amount of the below 2-tonne sales category was 3,490 (this year), with 2,580 being sold in May of last year. This segment of vehicles is used primarily for local delivery and short-distance transportation and continues to have strong demand.

In addition, the 2-tonne to 3.5-tonne sales category has sold 20,589 (this year), with only 17,718 being sold a year ago. Even today, this remains one of the most important segments for Mahindra's commercial vehicle portfolio because of the volumes it generates every month.

Three-Wheelers Change The Picture

It is likely that the three-wheeler number will come up as the number one talking point on the sales report. In May 2026, Mahindra has sold 12,536 units, compared to May 2025, when they sold 6,635 units.

There was a significant increase in sales of three-wheelers with the added assistance of sales of passenger carriers. As well as electric three-wheelers that were continuing to prove themselves to more buyers, they were working collectively, which meant that the Mahindra 3-wheeler division was the biggest contributor to growth for the month.

Without the huge number sold on three-wheelers, the sales numbers from the entire sales report would have looked much different, as they accounted for a significant number of the total number of bicycles sold.

Overseas Business Also Adds To Growth

There was some good news from exports as well. Mahindra exported 5,000 units during May, up from 3,646 units a year earlier. The rise indicates that demand remained stable in a number of international markets where the company sells its vehicles.

Although domestic sales remained the bigger story, exports also added useful support to the overall result.

Sales Numbers End The Month On A Positive Note

In general, Mahindra trucks had a successful month in May 2022; sales increased in the domestic market, exports improved and the 3-wheeler business performed extremely well.
Mahindra expects to have some positive momentum going into the future because both its CV and 3-wheeler divisions are growing.
