New 14-tonne Volvo FL Electric brings a lighter, quieter truck option for daily city delivery work.
Volvo Trucks has added a new model to its electric truck family. The company has now launched a 14-tonne version of the Volvo FL Electric. This truck is made mainly for city use and short-distance work. Earlier, the FL Electric was only available in 16-tonne and 18-tonne options. Now Volvo wants to help small and medium businesses also move to electric trucks.
Production of this new model will start in the second half of 2026. It is a lighter truck, but still strong enough for daily work inside cities.

The Volvo FL Electric has been in use since 2019. Many companies already use it for delivery and service work. Turning radius is small, so it moves easily in tight spaces. When compared to large trucks or heavy tippers, this one feels much easier to control. Another plus point is noise. The truck runs very quietly, which is helpful in busy city areas.
Power, Battery and Daily Range
The 14-tonne FL Electric comes with a 180 kW electric motor. For city driving, this level of power is enough. As per Volvo’s statement, this can run around 200 kilometers on a single charge. In real use, the range depends on many things. Load weight, traffic, weather and driving style all matter. If the truck is fully loaded, like small tippers or heavy cargo use, the range can drop.
First Time LFP Batteries in Volvo Truck
This is the first truck of Volvo commercial vehicles to use LFP batteries. These batteries come from CATL and are known for long life and better safety. LFP batteries are also cheaper than older battery types.
Volvo has said these batteries will also be used in other electric truck models later. Even older FL and FE Electric trucks will get this updated battery tech in future.
Renault Trucks recently launched a similar model called E-Tech D14. Both trucks use almost same platform because both brands come under Volvo Group.
Wheelbase Options and Body Fitment
The new electric truck will be available with wheelbase options from 3.8 metres to 6.5 metres. Ground clearance is around 24 cm, which is good for speed breakers and loading areas.
Battery placement is done in a smart way. It does not block body mounting. This helps companies who want to fit boxes, cargo bodies, or even light-duty tippers. Like pickup trucks, this model can be customised based on work need.
Smart Battery Choice Helps Better Payload
Volvo says customers should buy only that much battery which they really need. Bigger battery means more weight and less payload. For city work, this 14-tonne electric truck gives a good balance between load and range.
Volvo already sells electric trucks in many countries including Europe, Asia, and Australia. With this new model, the company is making electric trucks more practical for daily business use. This 14-tonne FL Electric shows that electric trucks are not only for big fleets. They can also work like pickup trucks and small tippers for regular city jobs.
