Astranova starts offering electric buses for long-distance routes, moving beyond its usual EV segments.
Astranova Mobility has taken a big step by entering the commercial electric bus market through a new partnership with Zingbus. Till now, the company was mainly working in EV financing for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, cars, chargers, and other light vehicles. But with this new plan, the company is now focusing strongly on electric bus operations also.
This move comes as Astranova plans to deploy more than INR 200 crore worth of electric buses in the next 12 months across different routes in India.

Now passengers can see these new electric buses on the Delhi–Dehradun route. These buses cover a 275-kilometre distance and passengers can feel great comfort. The companies also shared that these electric buses cost less to run per kilometre, so the operator saves money while giving a cleaner travel option to people on this long route.
Strong Passenger Response And Plans To Scale Fleet
Zingbus shared that passengers are liking the cleaner and more comfortable electric bus experience. The buses also have high uptime, which means they run more hours without breakdowns and support daily schedules smoothly.
The company has a big target now — Zingbus wants to increase its electric bus fleet to 1,000 buses in the coming years. This is a major part of their clean mobility plan and a shift towards electric intercity travel.
Financing Model Designed To Solve Key Bus Operator Problems
Astranova Mobility believes the biggest challenges for electric bus adoption are the heavy upfront buying cost, range doubts, and asset management issues. To solve these, they are offering customised long-term leasing, partnerships with bus makers for better range planning, and buyback/refurbishment programs.
This model helps bus operators shift to electric buses without worrying about the high price of buying a bus outright. It also ensures smoother maintenance and long life for the electric bus.
Leaders Speak On Climate Gains And Faster EV Growth
Astranova Mobility’s Founder and CEO, Kunal Mundra, said that intercity buses are a big part of India’s transport emissions. Even if only a portion of these buses go electric, the climate benefits will be very large. He also said Astranova is investing heavily in data and engineering systems to support the electric bus transition.
Zingbus CEO and Co-founder Prashant Kumar said that Astranova’s financing support is helping them grow much faster. He mentioned that people are naturally choosing Tata electric buses for a smoother and quieter travelling experience.
Stronger Shift Toward Clean and Electric Intercity Travel
Astranova Mobility was started in 2023 and has already deployed more than 25,000 EVs worth over INR 360 crore in different segments. With strong backing from ADB and AdvantEdge Founders, the company offers a full-service package from leasing to maintenance and roadside help.
Zingbus started back in 2019, and since then it has slowly grown step by step into a big intercity travel name. Right now the company is running its buses in more than 350 cities, which is honestly a huge network for such a young platform. They have around 300-plus buses on the road, handling daily passengers across different routes. The company has crossed more than 6 million journeys till now.
This partnership is another sign that India’s intercity travel sector is slowly choosing electric buses and also commercial vehicles for long routes. As more operators test electric buses on busy routes, India’s goal of cleaner and greener transportation gets closer.
