Ultraviolette Plans To Signs MoU with State Government For Karnataka Expansion

By Jony Shekhawat | Published Date : March 28, 2026

Phased ₹200 crore investment and a new plant plan signal steady growth in Karnataka’s EV manufacturing space.

Ultraviolette Automotive has signed a deal, with the Karnataka government to make its business bigger. This news was shared when people met to talk about investing in Karnataka in Bengaluru. It wasn’t a flashy reveal, more of a straightforward update shared in the presence of industries minister M. B. Patil.

The company is looking at a phased plan. Nothing immediate or rushed. Over the next five years, it wants to build capacity in steps rather than doing everything together.

To begin with, around Rs 200 crore will be put into the current plant. The focus here is simple — increase output and manage rising demand. The EV space is growing and even in commercial electric vehicles, activity has started picking up, though gradually.

New Plant in Second Phase

After that, the bigger move comes into play. Ultraviolette is planning a new manufacturing unit in the state. If timelines stay on track, the plant could handle up to 150,000 units annually.

That kind of scale usually brings more than just production. Jobs are expected and so is more work for local vendors. Some suppliers are already connected to parts used in electric trucks, so there’s a fair chance the existing network will expand further.

Government Support Remains a Key Factor

From the state’s side, support has been indicated. Incentives such as PLI benefits and quick approvals have been talked about. Karnataka is trying hard to make itself a strong player, in the electric vehicle market in sustainable mobility. This move is part of that plan.

What the Company Is Saying

There wasn’t anything over the top in the company’s response. CEO Narayan Subramaniam kept it simple, saying the policy environment in Karnataka works in their favour. CTO Niraj Rajmohan mentioned something similar — access to engineers and nearby industrial areas makes things easier when scaling up.

Where Ultraviolette Stands Today

The company started back in 2016. It is mainly known for its electric motorcycles like the F77. The company has been growing over time. The company plan is to have the company in 100 cities by 2026. At the time the company is also working on other things, like electric buses and electric mini trucks and these things are getting better. That indirectly supports companies working across the EV chain, including manufacturers like Ultraviolette.

Slow and steady approach

Ultraviolette is already present in a few international markets, mainly in Europe and is looking at expanding further into Asia and Latin America.
For now, this move looks measured. No aggressive timelines, no big claims — just a steady plan to grow production, add capacity and stay aligned with how the EV market is shaping up.
