Three-wheeler sales grew 7% in April 2026, with EVs crossing 60% share, showing strong shift towards electric mobility in the segment.

Three-wheeler retail sales showed a decent growth in April 2026. As per Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), total sales reached around 1,06,908 units. This is about 7% higher compared to last year same month.

On monthly basis, sales went slightly down by around 2.6%. This kind of drop is normal after financial year ending, so not much worry for now. Still overall trend looks positive for 3 wheelers market.

One big change in this segment is fast growth of electric vehicles. In April, EVs made more than 60% share of total three-wheeler sales. This is quite big number if we compare to past years.

After EVs, CNG and LPG vehicles have around 25% share, while diesel is about 14%. Petrol is very less now. Many people are also shifting towards options like electric mini trucks for short distance transport.

This clearly shows that market is slowly moving towards cleaner fuel options, even if change is not fully complete yet.

Demand in Passenger and Goods Segment

Both passenger and goods categories are showing good demand. Passenger carriers like passenger autos saw strong growth of more than 36%. At the same time, goods carriers like Loading autos also increased by around 27%.

But not everything is perfect. E-rickshaw passenger segment actually went down by nearly 28%, which shows that some parts of market are still unstable. Still overall demand looks balanced.

Rural Markets Growing Faster

Another important point is rural market is growing faster than urban areas. Rural sales increased by around 10%, while urban growth was just above 3%.

This means demand is coming more from smaller towns and villages. Use of 3 wheelers for both transport and goods movement is increasing in these areas.

What is Driving the Growth

There are few main reasons behind this growth. Last-mile mobility demand is increasing, especially in cities and towns. Also, e-commerce deliveries are growing, which is helping goods carriers.

Government push for electric vehicles is also playing role. Because of this, more people are choosing EV options now.
