After illegal money-taking cases at checkposts, the government has shut 15 checkposts in Telangana.

There were 14 RTA checkposts and 1 inside-state checkpost.

These were in major districts like:

Salura (Nizamabad), Bhoraj (Adilabad), Zahirabad (Sangareddy), Salabatpur–Maddur (Kamareddy), Bhainsa (Nirmal), Wanakidi (Asifabad), Alampur (Jogulamba), Krishna (Narayanpet), Nagarjunasagar & Vishnupuram (Nalgonda), Kodad (Suryapet), Kalluru (Khammam), Aswaraopeta & Palvoncha (Bhadradri Kothagudem), and Kamareddy intrastate checkpost.

This decision is a big relief for truck, mini truck, pickup and bus drivers who carry goods daily.

Digital Transport System Replacing the Old System

After GST, tax collection at the border is not needed.

Now all transport-related services will go fully digital:

  • Permit online
  • Tax payment online
  • Registration online
  • Vehicle checking with ANPR cameras and e-enforcement
  • The checkpost staff will now work in road safety and traffic control.

EV Policy Showing Big Results

Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that EV sales were only 0.03% in 2023, and may reach 1.13% by 2025.

The government has already given ₹577 crore tax exemptions to support electric mobility.

He also shared approval numbers:

  • 20,000 Electric autos
  • 10,000 LPG autos
  • 10,000 CNG autos
  • 25,000 Retrofitted autos

This step will reduce pollution in Delhi and make clean transport strong.

More Transparency, Less Trouble

All RTA checkposts are closed permanently.

  •  Transport service will become transparent and corruption-free.
  •  Drivers of pickup, cargo truck and electric truck will save time and money, no more long line or hidden payments.

Linked With National Transport Platforms

  • Telangana is now connected with the “Vahan” system for vehicle registration.
  • Soon, the “Sarathi” system will start for online driving licence services also.

So people will not need to visit the RTA office again and again.
