The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers SIAM organised the 20th Styling and Design Conclave along with the 18th Automotive Design Challenge in Goa. The two-day event brought together manufacturers, teachers, designers and students to discuss how collaboration can help India’s mobility design grow. Maruti Suzuki mini trucks are used for daily transport and last-mile movement.

Design Seen As Key For Future Mobility

Speakers said vehicle design is no longer only about looks. It now plays a big role in comfort, safety and overall user experience. SIAM said future mobility solutions must balance sustainability, affordability and practical use.

This thinking is important not just for cars but also for Maruti Suzuki Commercial Vehicles and other work-focused vehicles used in cities and rural areas.

White Paper Released On Automotive Design In India

During the event, SIAM released a white paper called Evolution of Automotive Design in India. The paper explains how vehicle design in the country has changed over time and how Indian manufacturers are slowly building their own design identity.

It also talks about the growing role of new materials, sustainability and user-focused design in both passenger and commercial vehicles, including electric truck concepts.

Industry Experts Share Design Experiences

Design leaders from different auto companies and design studios shared their experiences on how vehicle styling is changing. They said understanding real user problems is important while creating new designs. Some speakers also said India can build a strong global design image by mixing modern design tools with local culture and usage needs.

Young Designers Get Platform Through Design Challenge

The Automotive Design Challenge saw participation from 53 students from various design colleges. Akshit Salunkhe from Ajeenkya DY Patil University won the first prize. Aman Mujawar from IIT Delhi became the first runner-up, while Chanakya Asangi from Strate School of Design secured the second runner-up position.

Collaboration Highlighted Across Auto Segments
