Kedar Apte joined Mahindra earlier for international operations in the farm equipment business. Later, he was given responsibility for EV charging initiatives in October 2024. During his time, he worked on setting up public charging stations and partnerships for home charger installation and servicing. Many early charging tie-ups came during this phase, which helped Mahindra customers feel more confident about EV usage.

Mahindra said Apte is moving on to explore new roles outside the group.

Anoop Kachhara Steps Into a Bigger Role

Anoop Kachhara will now handle both public and private EV charging. This includes home charging, office charging, and corporate solutions. He will report to Nalinikanth Gollagunta, who heads Mahindra’s automotive business.

Kachhara has been with the Mahindra Group since 2022. He earlier worked in the group strategy office. Over the last six months, he has been working with the auto business, mainly on public EV charging plans.

His work included planning where chargers should come, how they should be designed and how the first phase rollout should look.

Working With Government Bodies

Mahindra also shared that Kachhara has been working with the Ministry of Heavy Industries and BHEL. The goal is to support EV charging growth across India. This push is important not only for cars but also for future electric usage in Mahindra commercial vehicles, where charging reliability matters more for daily operations.

Charging Support Key for New EV Buyers

Mahindra has added new electric models in the last few months, including XEV 9e and XUV 3XO EV. With this, the company now has four born-EV models. For buyers shifting from traditional utility vehicles like Mahindra Bolero pickups, charging access is a big concern. That is why Mahindra is focusing more on charging networks along with vehicle launches.

Better charging also helps fleet buyers who use Mahindra trucks for daily work and need predictable charging options.

Big EV Plans Ahead

Mahindra had a strong year in 2025 and emerged as India’s third-largest EV maker. Mahindra sold a little over 33,500 electric vehicles, according to Vahan data. Now, Mahindra takes a new target to cross annual one lakh EV sales in future.

For this, Mahindra decides to make 250 new fast-charging stations under the ChargeIN network till FY2027. With 180 kW capacity chargers, these can produce 1000 charging points.

At present, Mahindra customers can already use more than 34,000 public charging points across India through the Me4U app. In the long run, this charging push is expected to support not just personal EVs, but also electric use cases linked to Mahindra buses and fleet operations.
