The funding will help GreenCell Mobility expand its electric bus fleet across multiple Indian cities and support the growing demand for clean and reliable public transport.

GreenCell Mobility has raised $89 million in a new funding round to grow its electric bus business in India. The money came from IFC, British International Investment and Tata Capital. The company already runs a large number of electric buses, and this funding will help it move faster in many states.

India public transport is slowly shifting toward clean options and this deal clearly shows that big investors believe electric mobility is ready for large-scale use.

At present, GreenCell Mobility is running close to 1,200 electric buses on Indian roads. After getting this fresh investment, the company plans to slowly push this number to around 3,700 vehicles. These new electric buses will run in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry cities.

The company is not adding one single type of bus everywhere. Route demand will decide the model. The latest 24-seater buses will be used for easy movement.

Charging Network Already in Place

One major reason behind smooth operations is the company's charging setup. GreenCell Mobility has more than 270 charging stations spread across India. This helps buses run daily without long breaks.

The company also runs intercity services under the NueGo brand. These routes connect over 100 cities using electric buses that focus on comfort and low noise. Some of these services fall in the luxury buses category, mainly used for longer journeys.

CEO of GreenCell Mobility, Devndra Chawla, announced that this funding will be a great step towards green vehicles to be used in their daily life. According to him, support from global and Indian investors shows trust in how the company operates.

Eversource Capital, which backs GreenCell, also said that clean transport needs different types of funding to grow faster and reach more cities.

Role Of Electric Buses for Cities and Schools

Experts believe electric buses can help reduce pollution, especially in small and mid-sized cities. Along with city transport, electric options are slowly entering staff and school segments.

Many operators are already familiar with Tata buses in public transport. At the same time, models like BharatBenz staff buses and Eicher school buses are being used for organized travel, showing how the bus market is changing.

Rapid Growth in Electric Mobility

Electric buses are now getting real trust in India. This funding is not just about money, it shows that the system is slowly working. Government programs and private companies are moving in the same direction to fix public transport.

More buses are coming on the road and charging support is also improving step by step. GreenCell Mobility is now preparing for the next phase of growth in India clean transport journey.
