Ashok Leyland Shows New P15 & H4 Unipack Engines at EXCON 2025

By Amit Jangra | Published Date : December 10, 2025

The H4 Unipack engine is built for tough machines like backhoe loaders and works even at high altitudes up to 5,500 meters with reliable performance.

EXCON 2025 started in Bangalore at BIEC and this year the crowd is looking more excited, mostly because Ashok Leyland came with some new engine tech. The company, which is famous in India for trucks and heavy machines, introduced the P15 and the H4 Unipack engines. The event is running from 9 to 13 December and many visitors are stopping at their stall again and again to see what is different this time.

Both new engines, P15 (49 & 55 HP) and H4 Unipack (55 & 74 HP), are made for machines used in construction and industrial jobs. Ashok Leyland said these engines follow the latest CEV Stage V emission rules, which means the pollution level is controlled better than older engines.

The P15 engine is mainly for compact machines. Things like skid-steer loaders, mini compactors, sweepers and forklifts. Even if the machine size is small, the engine still gives strong pulling power. It is also lighter in weight, so it helps the machine move smoothly and use less fuel. A lot of contractors prefer engines that save fuel because daily running cost is high.

This engine also has a CNG option, which is better for cleaner energy use. And one more version is the high-speed non-emission type, which can go up to around 3300 rpm. This is useful for work where fast cycles are needed and the operator doesn’t want slow movement.

H4 Unipack: For Hard Jobs and Tough Places

The H4 Unipack engine is kind of built for hard-working machines, like backhoe loaders and all that heavy stuff. The company said it can work even in high places, almost 5,500 meters, which honestly most engines don’t really manage well. So it’s kind of made for rough places where normal engines start giving trouble. Cold starts are also easier, so people working in colder sites will not struggle with starting issues. Like the P15, this engine also follows strict emission norms, so it is future-ready for industrial usage.

More Solutions Displayed at the Event

Ashok Leyland also displayed some other solutions:

  • H6 Series: This engine can use hydrogen or flexi-fuel. A 133 HP CEV Stage V model without an intercooler was also shown.
  • A6 Series: A big 380 HP CRS engine for heavy-duty machines.
  • Other Products: 82.5 kVA diesel genset, airless DEF tanks and compact Flex EATS system for emission control.

Bottom Line

By showing these engines, Ashok Leyland is trying to show its focus on new technology and customer needs. Their production quality and service network is already strong in India, so these engines may help the company grow even more in the market of construction machines and trucks.
