FlixBus Launches Intercity Bus Service in India – 43rd Service in the Country

In a major announcement, FlixBus, a global leader in intercity bus services, has officially entered the Indian market. With India being the 43rd country in its global network, FlixBus aims to revolutionize intercity bus travel in the country, particularly in Northern India. The German transportation giant pledges to provide competitive prices and best-in-class safety standards, catering to the diverse bus travel needs of millions.

Strategic Routes in Northern India

FlixBus will kick start its Indian operations on February 6, 2024, unveiling a set of strategic routes connecting Delhi with prominent cities such as Ayodhya, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Manali, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Ajmer, Katra, Dehradun, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Jodhpur, Dharamshala, Lucknow and Amritsar. These routes encompass 59 stops and offer over 200 connections, providing a comprehensive network for travellers across the region.

Partnership with Local Operators and Premium Bus Features

To ensure seamless operations and an enhanced travel experience, FlixBus has forged partnerships with local bus operators in India. The company plans to operate premium buses equipped with BS6 engines, adhering to stringent emission norms for environmental sustainability.

In response to local demands, FlixBus introduces dedicated services such as gender seating, a 24x7 incident response team, a traffic control ward, and 2-point seat belts for all passengers. The company emphasizes the importance of safety by ensuring that each bus is not older than three years and has travelled fewer than 500 km. Additionally, all electric buses come equipped with ABS (anti-locking braking system) and ESC (electronic stability system), contributing to best-in-class safety standards.

Special Launch Offer and Booking Information

To celebrate its entry into the Indian market, FlixBus is offering tickets at a special launch price starting as low as INR 99. Ticket sales commenced on February 1, 2024, and the inaugural routes are set to begin on February 6th.

Travel enthusiasts can book their FlixBus tickets through the company's official website. The network spans across Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, covering 46 destination cities.

The German Ambassador to India, Dr. Philipp Ackermann, commended FlixBus for its sustainable business model and commitment to reducing CO2 emissions.
