Zingbus Expands Its Electric Bus Fleet Through a New Operator Partnership Model
By Amit Jangra | Published Date : December 05, 2025
Zingbus is growing its electric bus fleet by working with operators instead of owning buses, helping partners shift from diesel to EVs using simple tech support.
Zingbus, which works in intercity travel, has now changed the way it is growing its electric buses. Before, the company used to own the buses and also run them by itself. But this old style was slow and also heavy for the company. So now they decided to work with bus operators instead of doing everything on their own. In this new model, the operator runs the bus and Zingbus gives them the tech support and the revenue tools that are made for EV buses. This seems more practical for them, because the company does not need to handle every small thing.

Right now, Zingbus is connected with more than 250 operators across India. The company says this model helps operators who want to move from diesel buses to electric buses but feel scared because of the big investment needed at the start. EVs need more setup cost, so Zingbus created its own tech stack that makes EV operations easier. Operators don’t have to worry much about new systems, because the tools already support charging, planning and other things.
Some early data also shows that Zingbus electric buses are getting more passengers compared to diesel buses on the same routes. People are also giving better feedback for EV buses. Maybe this is because EV buses are smoother and have less noise, so long travel feels better for passengers.
More Operators Showing Interest
Prashant Kumar, who is the co-founder, said that operator partners are now showing more interest in adding electric buses in their fleets. Since Zingbus already has an EV-ready system, operators feel it is easier to handle these buses. Things like charging, schedule changes and everyday running become less confusing for them.
The company wants to add more than 1,000 electric buses in the next few years. They think that this will help reduce almost 36,000 tons of carbon emissions every year. Till now, Zingbus has completed more than 6 million journeys. The company is active in over 200 cities across 20 states and is working with almost 300 buses through partners.
A Step Toward Cleaner Travel
By using partnerships and simple tech-based management, Zingbus is showing one possible path to grow electric buses in India. If more companies follow something like this, the future of intercity buses and electric buses may become cleaner and better for everyone.
