Many transport operators are now showing more interest in safety technology because road accident concerns are increasing across the commercial vehicle industry.
System Made for Indian Conditions
Valeo said the technology has been developed while keeping Indian roads and operating conditions in mind. The setup combines radar systems and a smart camera into a single compact unit. Because of this, vehicle makers may find it easier to install the technology into existing platforms. The company said the setup uses three radars and one front camera for monitoring road movement and vehicle surroundings.
Can Work in Different Vehicle Segments
The company also explained that the system can support both 12V and 24V vehicle platforms. Because of this, it may be used in different categories including mini trucks, heavy commercial vehicles and electric trucks. Industry experts believe ADAS technology may slowly become more common in Indian commercial vehicles over the next few years. Companies connected with logistics, passenger transport and fleet operations are now paying more attention to driver safety systems.
Electric Vehicle Segment Also Important
The rise of electric trucks and electric mini trucks is also pushing companies to introduce smarter vehicle technologies. Commercial EV makers are now trying to combine safety systems with connected vehicle technology as the market becomes more competitive. Better software systems and over-the-air updates are also becoming important in new-generation commercial vehicles.
Company Sees Strong Future in India
Valeo officials said India remains an important market for the company’s future business plans. The company believes safety regulations and technology adoption may increase further in coming years. Company executives also mentioned that commercial vehicle makers are now looking for affordable and scalable ADAS solutions for Indian market conditions.
As demand for safer trucks and connected transport systems increases, more companies may start adding advanced safety technology into future commercial vehicle models.
