Tata Motors has expanded its passenger transport portfolio with the launch of the Ultra Prime and Starbus Prime bus range at Prawaas 5.0 in Gandhinagar. Along with the new buses, the company displayed several passenger mobility solutions designed for school, staff, tourism, city and institutional transport.

The Ultra Prime and Starbus Prime buses are mainly for school, staff and tourist trips. Tata Motors has made some changes to both models. They now have a look, better seats and a smoother ride. The company also focused on making the bus quieter and less shaky. This will make long trips more enjoyable for people on board.
Safety is also a priority. The new electric buses come with 29 safety features. These include a system that watches the driver, a camera that shows everything, around the bus, a transport system and a system that helps with parking. All these features are meant to help drivers stay alert and keep passengers safe.

CNG and Electric Models Expand the Portfolio

Besides the new launches, Tata Motors showcased the LPO 1620 CNG bus for intercity and city transport. The company says the model offers lower running costs while carrying more passengers, making it a practical option for public transport operators.

Another highlight was the Ultra Prime LPO 412, which has been developed for tourism and long-distance travel. The Tata buses focus on passenger comfort and is suitable for operators running premium intercity services.

Electric Mobility Takes Centre Stage

Tata Motors also displayed the Ultra Skool 9/9 EV, an electric school bus built with advanced safety systems, fast-charging support and a longer operating range. One unique feature is the optional paint scheme and specially designed interior graphics created to provide a more comfortable travel experience for neurodivergent children.

The company also introduced the Ultra Prime RE Concept in India for the first time. The concept has been designed for urban transport and aims to improve passenger comfort while helping fleet operators achieve better productivity.

Alongside these models, Tata Motors showcased the Magic EV, which offers a claimed driving range of up to 120 km on a single charge for last-mile passenger transport. The Winger Plus was also on display for staff, tourism and institutional travel.

Customer Support Network Remains a Key Strength

Apart from new products, Tata Motors highlighted its nationwide support network, which includes more than 4,600 sales and service touchpoints across India. The company also offers support through Sampoorna Seva 2.0, annual maintenance packages, fleet management solutions and a genuine spare parts network. These services are aimed at reducing vehicle downtime and improving fleet performance.

Speaking at the event, Anand S, Vice President and Business Head – Commercial Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors, said Prawaas continues to be an important platform for understanding the changing needs of passenger transport operators and strengthening the company's product portfolio.

With the launch of the Ultra Prime and Starbus Prime range, Tata Motors has further strengthened its position in the commercial passenger vehicle market while expanding its offerings across diesel, CNG and electric mobility segments.
