Tata Motors Brings Affordable Electric Pickup to Market

Tata Motors launched an affordable electric pickup with good range, fast charging and high payload, targeting small businesses and daily commercial use.


Tata Motors has introduced a new electric pickup, trying to make entry easier for small business owners. The vehicle, called Intra EV Pickup, comes at a starting price of ₹11.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The announcement was made in Mumbai and it clearly shows the company is pushing more into electric cargo vehicles.

This move is important because many small operators now looking for better and low running cost options. With this launch, Tata pickups are slowly moving toward electric future, not just diesel models.

The new Tata intra pickups are based on the same Intra platform but now comes with electric setup. It gets a 72 kW motor which gives around 230 Nm torque. The battery is 28.2 kWh and company claims range of about 211 km in one charge.

Charging also looks practical. With fast charger, it can go from 10% to 80% in around 55 minutes, which is quite useful for daily work users.

Talking about load, the pickup can carry up to 1,750 kg. Also, body length goes up to 10 feet 2 inch, so it can be used in different works like delivery, dairy, waste transport and even cold chain logistics. This makes it suitable for many small business needs.

Features and Support System

Company has also added some safety and smart features. It comes with Electronic Braking System and regenerative braking with 3 levels. One more useful thing is Fleet Edge system, which helps in tracking vehicle and maintenance alerts.

Battery warranty is given for 6 years or 2 lakh km, which gives some confidence to buyers.

To support this, Tata motors says they already have more than 25,000 charging points and over 200 EV service centers. Home charging option also available, so users don’t have to depend only on public stations.

Part of Bigger EV Plan

This new pickup is not alone. It joins Tata mini trucks like Ace EV 1000 and Ace Pro EV, which are already in market. Company is slowly building full electric range in commercial segment.

Girish Wagh from Tata Motors also said that company wants to cover all types of mobility needs through EVs. Earlier they already started electric trucks and buses in many citiesand now this pickup adds one more option.

Overall, this launch shows how Tata Motors is trying to make electric vehicles more practical for daily business. It may take time, but slowly market is changing and people are also starting to accept EVs in commercial use.
