New Startup of Ashok Leyland on EV Battery Pack Plant

Ashok Leyland begins construction of a new EV battery pack manufacturing facility in Pillaipakkam near Chennai with an investment of around ₹400–500 crore to support the company’s growing electric mobility plans.


Ashok Leyland announced their new project during a foundation ceremony held in the presence of state government officials and company leaders. Now, Ashok Leyland is going to build a new EV battery pack plant at Pillaipakkam near Chennai. This plant is estimated to get ready with a budget of Rs. 400 to 500 crore.

Leaders Attend Foundation Ceremony

The foundation plaque for the project was unveiled by M. K. Stalin. The ceremony was also attended by T. R. B. Rajaa along with officials from Guidance Tamil Nadu and the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu. The people in charge from Ashok Leyland were at the ceremony, including Shenu Agarwal who's a senior manager at Ashok Leyland.

Dheeraj Hinduja said the company has had a long association with Tamil Nadu and continues to invest in the state’s industrial growth. According to him, the new battery pack facility will support the company’s future EV plans. Ashok Leyland has also been working on electric mobility through its subsidiary Switch Mobility.
