Takeshi Hirano has spent more than two decades working with the Isuzu brand across different international markets. His background mainly includes distribution strategy, marketing operations and market development.

Before returning to India, he was associated with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan. There, he worked within the Isuzu business division and handled responsibilities related to the company’s overseas markets.

Because of his experience in multiple regions, Hirano is considered familiar with how the global business of Isuzu commercial vehicles operates.

Earlier Role in India

This will not be Hirano’s first stint in India. He had earlier worked with Isuzu Motors India as Vice President for Sales and Marketing. During that period, he played a key role in setting up the company’s early sales structure in the country. Industry observers say the groundwork done during that phase helped the brand slowly build recognition in the pickup and utility vehicle segment. His return comes at a time when the company is trying to expand further in the Indian market for Isuzu commercial vehicles.

Operations and Manufacturing in India

Isuzu Motors India runs its headquarters from Chennai. The company also operates a manufacturing facility at Sri City. The vehicles that are made at this plant are used in our country and also sent to other countries. The company has been slowly adding places where people can buy their vehicles and now they have around 100 places across the country where people can buy them. Isuzu trucks are still very important for the Isuzu brand in India especially when people need Isuzu commercial vehicles to carry things and transport them from one place to another. Isuzu commercial vehicles are really good, for this kind of work.

Export Performance

The company also has a strong focus on exports. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Isuzu Motors India was the largest exporter of commercial vehicles from the country in the financial year 2024–25. This has helped strengthen the company’s role as a production base for global supply.

Current Product Portfolio

In the Indian market, the company currently sells models such as the Isuzu D‑MAX, the Isuzu Hi‑Lander and the Isuzu mu‑X. Along with these passenger-oriented vehicles, the company also offers commercial versions of the D-MAX S-cab pickup. These are widely used by businesses involved in cargo movement and rural transport.

Conclusion

The company is making some changes in management. This is happening at a time when people in India are buying more pickup trucks and light cargo vehicles. Isuzu is getting Hirano back on the leadership team. He is bringing experience from other countries. This means Isuzu commercial vehicles will keep getting stronger in India and the company will also keep exporting vehicles to other countries.
