NSKS empowers drivers and fleet owners to embrace electric trucks, pickups, and buses for a cleaner India.

Nayi Soch Ki Sawaari is a community drive spreading awareness about electric trucks, buses, pickups, and mini trucks among India’s truck drivers, mechanics and small fleet owners. It helps them understand how electric vehicles work while promoting cleaner transport, better driver welfare, and reducing dependence on fuel.

India’s road transport industry is changing fast, but challenges in adopting electric commercial vehicles are slowing progress. These issues affect energy efficiency, driver welfare, and environmental goals. To support this shift, the community initiative Nayi Soch Ki Sawaari (NSKS) is spreading awareness about electric buses, trucks, pickups, and mini trucks among India’s informal trucking sector.

Birth of Nayi Soch Ki Sawaari

The Nayi Soch Ki Sawaari movement started with one goal — to bridge the big information gap between experts and those actually working on roads — the truck drivers, fleet operators, and mechanics.

While many experts already support the electric truck transition, NSKS brings the same talk to ground level. It translates complex EV topics into simple, relatable stories that help drivers and small fleet owners understand what the shift means for them.

Why the Time is Right for Electric Trucking

India’s logistics sector is growing fast. Today, for every 1,000 trucks, there are only 750 drivers, and the number of trucks is expected to quadruple by 2050. This imbalance could become worse unless more people join and stay in this profession.

That’s why NSKS believes now is the right moment to increase awareness about zero-emission trucks, electric pickups, and clean-energy buses. The initiative not only helps India’s EV policy targets but also improves driver engagement and job confidence in the logistics world.

Voices from the Road: What Drivers and Mechanics Say

So far, Nayi Soch Ki Sawaari has hosted over 100 events across 28 cities in 8 states, directly connecting with more than 2,100 truck drivers, mechanics, and small fleet operators.
For many, it was their first time learning about electric trucks and mini trucks. Surveys showed that 51% of participants heard about e-trucks for the first time through these events.

Encouragingly, 73% of fleet operators and 50% of drivers now see electric trucks as real alternatives. Also, 96% of participants believe e-trucks can reduce pollution. Many even said they are ready to try electric pickups and trucks despite never seeing one in person.

Importance of the Informal Trucking Community

India’s trucking system runs largely through the informal sector — nearly 3 crore people, including drivers, helpers, mechanics, and small fleet owners. This community drives most trucks, buses, and pickups that move goods across the country.

They are key to India’s green mobility future. According to a CEED India study, Medium and Heavy-Duty Trucks, which make up only 2% of total vehicles, consume around 35% of India’s on-road fuel.

Without this community’s participation, the shift to electric mini trucks and trucks will be incomplete. NSKS ensures they are part of the change, not left behind.

Road Ahead for Nayi Soch Ki Sawaari

NSKS is gearing up to host 400 on-ground events in 18 states, connecting truck and bus drivers, small fleet owners, and EV fans. The next step is uniting policymakers, manufacturers, drivers, and mechanics into one network — working together to make India’s vision of clean, electric trucking a reality.
