Three-wheelers are selling more than before. In January 2026, 1,27,134 were sold, up from 1,07,013 last year. That’s an 18.8% growth.
Passenger e-rickshaws sold 44,456 units, up 14.5%. Goods e-rickshaws jumped 33.3% to 7,656 units. This shows more people are using electric vehicles for last-mile goods delivery.
Passenger three-wheelers did well too, 60,701 units sold, 20.6% growth. Goods three-wheelers sold 14,199 units, 17.8% growth. Personal three-wheelers are small in numbers, but they jumped over 40%. Three-wheelers remain popular for city travel and small business transport.
Commercial Vehicles Keep Momentum
CVs sold 1,07,486 units, up 15% YoY. LCVs including mini trucks and pickups led with 65,505 units, 14.9% growth. Urban logistics, e-commerce and FMCG demand helped here.
MCVs sold 7,648 units, up 18.8%. HCVs or heavy trucks sold 34,287 units, 14.6% growth, supported by infrastructure projects and long-haul transport.
The ‘Others’ category, like construction equipment, sold only 46 units, down from 70 last year. Niche vehicles are still slow in demand.
Key Trends and Observations
January 2026 shows trucks, mini trucks, pickups and 3 wheelers are in strong demand. Electric 3 wheelers and passenger autos are performing well. LCVs and MCVs are also growing steadily.
Market Outlook 2026
If this trend continues, 2026 looks positive and stable for India’s CV and three-wheeler market. Urban transport and logistics demand will keep driving growth. Trucks, mini trucks, pickups and 3 wheelers will lead the market. Electric mobility and last-mile passenger transport demand remain strong.
