Electric SCV Demand Surges as Tata Motors and Euler Motors Lead April e-CV Sales

By Amit Jangra | Published Date : May 04, 2026

Electric mini trucks led April 2026 e-CV sales, with strong growth driven by city delivery demand and rising interest in low-cost transport options.

April 2026 was a good month for electric commercial vehicles. Around 2,236 units were sold, which is much higher than last year. Slowly, people are showing more interest.
This segment includes different types like small cargo vehicles, buses and heavy trucks, but most demand is coming from small vehicles. These electric mini trucks are now becoming common in city delivery work.

Out of total sales, the biggest share came from light goods carriers or small electric vehicles. Around 1,817 units were sold in this category alone. That is nearly 80% of the total market, which is quite huge.

These vehicles are mainly used for delivery work in cities. Sectors like e-commerce, FMCG and courier services are using them more now. Reason is simple — running cost is lower and they are better for city pollution also.

This is where brands like Tata mini trucks are getting strong demand, especially for last-mile delivery jobs.

Tata Still Leading, But Competition is Growing

In April, Tata Motors stayed at number one position. The company sold around 798 units and held about 36% market share. Its range of small electric vehicles is already popular in the market.

Recently, Tata also launched a new electric pickup, which comes with good range and strong load capacity. This helps small business owners carry more goods in one trip, so profit also improves a bit.

But competition is now getting serious. Euler Motors is growing very fast. The company sold 518 units in April, which is a big jump compared to last year. These Euler mini trucks are now becoming popular in many cities.

Mahindra also stayed in the race with its electric models, though growth was not as fast as Euler.

More Players Entering the Market

Apart from top companies, some other brands are also trying to grow. Companies like Switch Mobility and Tivolt are bringing new models with different battery options and ranges.

Some vehicles are good for city use, while a few can go on longer routes too. So buyers get more options now. Electric buses and heavy vehicles also grew, but numbers are still less than mini trucks.

Future Looks Strong for Electric Mini Trucks

If current trend continues, sales of electric mini trucks can cross 20,000 units in 2026. Already in first four months, companies have sold more than half of last year’s total.

Main reason behind this growth is rising fuel cost and need for low-cost transport. Many diesel vehicle owners are now thinking to switch.

Also, more charging options and new models are helping customers feel more confident.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the electric commercial vehicle market is still small but moving fast. Small vehicles are clearly leading this change.

With companies like Tata Motors and Euler Motors pushing hard, competition will increase more.

For now, electric mini trucks look like the real game changer in this space, especially for city transport and delivery work.
