To reduce growing air pollution and keep the air cleaner in the NCR area, Sonipat district administration has taken a strict step. From January 1, diesel autos will not be seen on city roads. These diesel 3-wheelers, once common for daily travel, will slowly disappear from the streets.
Clear Order For Auto Owners and Unions
Subhash Chandra, District Transport Officer and Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority, discussed with auto owners and union representatives in a meeting. In the meeting, it was clearly said that no diesel auto will get permission after December 31. This decision will affect the daily travel system of the city and the livelihood of many drivers who depend on passenger 3-wheelers.
Deadline Fixed Till December 31
The administration has given time till December 31 to remove diesel 3-wheelers from roads. The process will happen in a phased manner so that traffic movement is not disturbed and passengers do not face sudden problems. Officials said this step-by-step removal will help manage public transport smoothly.
Decision Based on CAQM Directions
This order has been given under Direction No. 70 of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). Officials said air pollution in Sonipat often goes to serious levels, same as other NCR areas. Smoke coming from diesel Bajaj autos is a big reason, so moving to clean fuel vehicles has now become necessary.
Drivers Advised to Shift to Electric and CNG Options
SDM Subhash Chandra discussed the issue in detail with auto union president Inderjit, other leaders, and drivers. Many drivers, including Rajkumar, Satish Kumar, Anand Kumar, Prem Singh, Dinesh, Rohtash, Pratap Singh, and Sanjay, were present. Drivers were advised to switch their diesel autos to electric 3-wheeler or Bajaj RE CNG models. Some drivers raised practical problems, but the administration made it clear that environmental rules cannot be relaxed.
Lower Pollution and Strict Action After Deadline
Officials feel that removing diesel 3-wheelers will help cut carbon smoke and also reduce noise on roads. Electric 3-wheelers are much cleaner and make less sound, which suits city areas. In coming time, both passenger 3-wheelers and cargo 3-wheelers are likely to shift to cleaner options. After December 31, any diesel auto found on the road will be seized and a heavy fine will be imposed. The administration may also increase checks on other old and polluting vehicles in future.
This decision marks a major change in Sonipat’s transport system and shows a strong push towards clean and green mobility.
