Shriram Mobility November 2025 Report: Truck Rentals Stay Strong on Major Indian Routes

By Amit Jangra | Published Date : November 25, 2025

Truck rentals stayed strong in October 2025 as Kharif crop movement and festive demand pushed more trucks on major Indian routes.

The new Shriram Mobility Bulletin (Nov 2025) shows that October was actually a busy month for road transport. The arrival of Kharif crops, specially in states where harvesting happens early, pushed more trucks and even mini trucks on highways. Many transporters also felt relief because the govt pushed the non-BS6 truck ban in Delhi-NCR for one more year. That one move alone saved a lot of confusion for truckers who were not ready to replace their vehicles so sudden.

The report also shares details about rentals on big routes, how different categories like pickups, 3 wheelers and buses performed in retail sales and even fuel demand patterns.

According to the bulletin, 18-ton round-trip truck rentals stayed quite firm on most key corridors in October 2025.

Some of the important changes were:

  • Delhi–Kolkata–Delhi: up by around 1.9%
  • Delhi–Hyderabad–Delhi: almost 1% rise
  • Bengaluru–Mumbai–Bengaluru & Kolkata–Guwahati–Kolkata: both gained about 0.7%
  • Mumbai–Chennai–Mumbai: near 0.6% growth
  • Bengaluru–Kolkata–Bengaluru: around 0.5% higher rentals

But not every route moved. Delhi–Bengaluru–Delhi and Delhi–Kolkata–Delhi stayed exactly same. A few routes dropped too, like Delhi–Chennai–Delhi, down by 0.5% and Mumbai–Kolkata–Mumbai, which fell around 1%.

The bulletin says heavy rains in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand slowed truck movement quite badly in the North.

Commercial Vehicle Sales Jump, Especially 3-Wheelers & EVs

The GST Bachat Utsav pulled up sales numbers for almost every category.

  • Goods carriers sold 95,304 units → 23% higher YoY
  • E-rickshaws with carts → 18% YoY growth
  • Cargo 3-wheelers → 20% YoY and 59% MoM jump
  • Bus category actually fell 11% YoY, though slightly up MoM
  • Agri trailers dropped 7% YoY, but rose a bit MoM

A surprising highlight: electric 3-wheelers touched 32,000 units, a huge 324% YoY jump. This shows EV adoption is getting serious now, especially for short-distance goods work where people earlier used mini trucks or small pickups.

Fuel Use Mixed: Diesel Slightly Down, Petrol Up

Diesel consumption fell a bit (0.5% YoY) due to low mining and agri demand.

Petrol went the opposite way — up 7% YoY, mostly because of festival travel.

CEO Speaks on Market Mood

Shriram Finance CEO Y.S. Chakravarti said Deepavali season gave “very strong numbers”. Rentals stayed firm and vehicle sales across segments hit new highs. But he also said demand may cool down a little ahead.

Final Word

Overall, the report says that India’s logistics scene — trucks, mini trucks, pickups, 3 wheelers and even buses — is in a good position now. With crop movement, EV push, stable rentals and better road activity, the sector looks set for steady growth going ahead.
