Eicher launches Pro 5000 series of heavy duty trucks with EGR technology
Eicher Trucks & Buses launched its all new Pro 5000 series range of heavy-duty trucks, tippers and tractors from 16-40 Ton GVW. The new Pro 5000 series introduction is in line with the company’s aim to strengthen its presence in the heavy duty truck segment.

Powered by a 5.7 litre common rail E694 engine with i3 EGR Technology and Volvo group’s 3rd generation Engine Management System EMS 3.0, the Pro 5000 Series produces 170 HP and 192 HP max power options in different products. The new Eicher HD range comes with advanced features like engine Protection systems, driver information systems, fuel coaching, cruise control, supported by Lifetime Support Solutions to ensure maximum productivity. The haulage Pro 5000 Series will have Pro 5016 (4x2), Pro 5025 (6x2) and Pro 5031 (8x2) trucks to do the duty in the 16T, 25T and 31T segment respectively. These rigid heavy duty trucks come with the best in class warranty of 4 years / 4 Lakh km on driveline and 60,000 Km oil change interval. And the Tipper range will have Pro 5016T in the 16 Ton GVW category.

The Eicher tractor range only has 4x2 tractors, namely the Pro 5035 and Pro 5040 tractor. Eicher is working hard to have a product in the 49 Ton 6x4 tractor segment, a segment where volumes are growing month-after-month (especially the Rajasthan market TIV) owing to stricter government regulations for rated load, highly dominated by the likes of Tata Signa 4923.S and Ashok Leyland 4923 tractor. Eicher Trucks & Buses is offering the HD trucks with both Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) as well as Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) technologies. While EGR facilitates re-circulation of exhaust gasses back into the engine intake to reduce NOx formation, SCR works on treatment of exhaust gasses with Ad-Blue (urea based liquid solution) to convert NOx into Nitrogen and water vapours. While the Eicher Pro 5000 Series comes with EGR technology to meet BSIV emission norms, the Eicher Pro 6000 Series comes with SCR technology. In a market having mixed perceptions & apprehensions with regard to Ad-Blue, its availability on long routes and the incremental cost involved, VE Commercial Vehicles is playing safe by having products using both the technologies.
