SML Mahindra reported 14.7% growth in April 2026 commercial vehicle sales, supported by better dispatch activity and steady demand for buses and trucks.
SML Mahindra started the new financial year on a positive note with better commercial vehicle sales in April 2026. The company reported total sales of 1,711 units during the month. Last year in the same period, the company had sold 1,492 units. This helped the company register a growth of around 14.7% on yearly basis.
The new sales numbers show that commercial vehicle demand was decent in many markets at the start of FY27. Demand for buses and trucks also continued because transport work remained busy in different areas.

Along with sales growth, the company also recorded a rise in production. SML Mahindra produced 1,588 vehicles in April 2026, compared to 1,529 units in the same month last year. Production growth remained close to 4%.
The company’s dispatch activity was stronger than production growth during the month. This shows that market movement was slightly better compared to manufacturing growth at the start of the year.
Demand for SML trucks and Mahindra trucks is slowly improving in some transport segments where fleet operators are increasing vehicle purchases.
Exports Witnessed Small Growth
Exports also moved up during the month, although the overall numbers remained small. SML Mahindra exported 30 units in April 2026, while exports stood at 20 units in the same period last year.
Even though export volume is not very large right now, the increase still added to the company’s total monthly performance. Commercial vehicle makers are now trying to improve both domestic and overseas business as market competition becomes stronger.
Demand for Commercial Vehicles Remains Stable
Industry experts believe transport activity and logistics movement are helping commercial vehicle demand remain stable. Categories connected with buses, goods carriers and passenger transport are seeing regular movement in many regions.
The company continues to maintain its presence in the market through products like SML buses and commercial transport vehicles. Fleet operators are also showing interest in vehicles that offer better reliability and operating performance.
Positive Outlook Ahead
The April performance gives SML Mahindra a decent start for FY27. Sales growth moving faster than production growth is generally seen as a positive sign for vehicle dispatches.
With demand for commercial vehicles, Mahindra busses, trucks and passenger carriers remaining active in different sectors, the company may continue seeing stable business activity in the coming months. Growth in exports and improving dispatch numbers could also support overall performance going forward.
