Companies building self-driving trucks are now under pressure to prove they can make profits. After years of heavy spending with little return, many are focusing on freight transport because its routes are predictable and it’s easier to earn money.

Bosch to Provide Parts

At the CES show in Las Vegas, Bosch said it will give Kodiak important car parts. These include sensors and steering systems needed for safe and smooth driving. Financial details of the deal are not shared.

Building Real Autonomous Trucks

Bosch and Kodiak will work together to make a full autonomous truck system. This includes hardware, software, and controls needed for Kodiak’s AI driver. The system can be added while making new trucks or fitted later.

It can work for big 16-wheeler trucks and smaller mini trucks too.

Kodiak Leading Driverless Trucks

Kodiak went public three months ago. It is one of the few companies to run trucks without a human driver onboard. The company has already put customer-owned driverless trucks on the road, something many rivals have not done yet.

Bosch Expands in Self-Driving Technology

Bosch is the world’s largest car parts supplier. It already makes sensors and control systems for cars and electric trucks. With Kodiak, Bosch will grow more in the self-driving truck business.
