drivebuddyAI secured a $2.5 million ADAS contract to deploy AI-based safety systems across 3,000 heavy-duty trucks in India.

Ahmedabad-based mobility technology company drivebuddyAI has secured a major contract worth around $2.5 million for deployment of its ADAS system in 3,000 heavy-duty trucks. This is currently the company’s biggest single-customer deployment till now. The company is backed by Roadzen and mainly works in AI-driven fleet safety solutions.

According to the company, this project may expand further in coming years. The deployment could eventually grow to nearly 10,000 vehicles over a five-year period, taking the possible total contract value close to $10 million.

The customer involved in this project is already using drivebuddyAI systems in fleet operations. After using the technology for some time, the fleet operator has now decided to increase deployment with additional safety and monitoring features.

Founder and CEO Nisarg Pandya said the order is a major step for the company because handling 3,000 trucks for one customer is a large-scale deployment in the Indian fleet market.

The company’s platform offers features like driver drowsiness detection, facial recognition, driver identification, cabin monitoring and driver behaviour scoring. Fleet operators are now asking for more operational features, including driver attendance tracking and co-driver rest monitoring.

Demand for AI Safety Systems Increasing

Large transport companies in sectors like chemicals, petroleum, steel and industrial logistics are now increasing investment in AI-based safety systems. Many fleet operators are shifting from pilot projects to full-scale deployment across their trucks and transport networks.

The company said demand is also growing because transport operators want better monitoring systems to improve 4 safety, reduce accidents and manage drivers more efficiently.

drivebuddyAI’s technology has been trained using billions of kilometres of Indian road driving data. According to the company, deployed fleets have shown significant reduction in on-road risk events after using these systems.

Focus on Future Technology

Apart from current ADAS solutions, the company is also working on new technologies including radar-camera systems, automated emergency braking and 360-degree vehicle perception systems.

The company is trying to keep these systems affordable by using smaller edge-computing devices. It is also exploring road-quality monitoring solutions that can help drivers avoid damaged roads and improve route planning for trucks and electric trucks.

Plans for Bigger Expansion

drivebuddyAI is targeting nearly 8,000 deployments in FY27. Apart from this 3,000-truck project, the company already has another deployment pipeline covering around 2,000 vehicles.

The company is also in discussions with commercial vehicle manufacturers and EV bus makers. Management believes future opportunities may come from OEM partnerships as safety regulations become stronger in India.

Backed by Roadzen, which owns around 75% stake in the company, drivebuddyAI is now looking at both Indian and global opportunities including markets like the US, UK and Australia.
