This expressway started in 2019 and it is planned as an 8-lane long route. It will almost cut the Delhi–Mumbai trip in half, from roughly a full day to about 12 hours only. The officers told that the work is being checked properly to make sure drivers stay safe at higher speeds. There will also be more greenery along the sides of the road, acting like a natural wall to keep pollution and noise lower. Once open, this highway will support all kinds of vehicles including trucks, buses, mini trucks and pickups, which will make transport of goods much more quicker and cheaper.

Vision for Future Transport

Gadkari again shared his dream of seeing electric buses and electric trucks running freely on this highway in the coming years. He said they are trying to bring the world’s best systems so that logistics cost becomes low and business becomes easier for companies. According to him, this road will not only help trade but also tourism, because people will be able to travel between cities and states much faster. He believes the expressway will open new chances for exports and give a big push to India’s growing transport sector.

A Boost for Inter-State Connectivity

The minister also revealed that more links will be added soon to connect this expressway with Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. This will allow smoother movement from the national capital region to western India and to many important industrial hubs. The corridor will also support states like Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra by improving access to markets and cutting travel time for goods carriers such as trucks and pickups.

With most of the work nearly finished, the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is ready to become one of the longest and most important roads in India, giving a strong push to development, trade and long-distance travel.
