Switch Mobility launches Delhi’s first electric double-decker AC bus, offering eco-friendly heritage tours with modern comfort and Indian engineering excellence.
In a big step towards clean transport, Switch Mobility, the electric mobility arm of Ashok Leyland and part of the Hinduja Group, has introduced Delhi’s first fully electric double-decker AC bus under a special CSR initiative.
For the first time, people in Delhi can explore the city’s famous landmarks in a clean and comfortable electric bus. The idea is simple — bring back the charm of the old double-decker buses, but in a modern and eco-friendly way. This initiative is not just about tourism, it is also about responsibility towards environment.

The day starts at 9 a.m. from Dilli Haat – INA. The bus goes through the city, stopping near Rashtrapati Bhavan for pictures. Passengers also visit National Museum, National Gallery of Modern Art and Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya. The ride is easy and simple.
As the day comes to an end, the bus makes its final stops at National War Memorial and India Gate. Travellers get enough time to look around and relax. By 6 in the evening, everyone is back at Dilli Haat – INA. The idea is simple — see the city properly, without any hurry.
Powered by Indian Engineering
The bus used for this service is the SWITCH EiV 22, India’s first electric double-decker AC bus. It is designed and manufactured in India, showing the strong engineering background of Ashok Leyland. The bus comes with a 231 kWh battery pack and can run up to 250 kms on a single charge. It has seating capacity for 65 passengers and a lightweight aluminium body for better comfort.
Built on a 650V system, it supports dual-gun charging and uses liquid-cooled battery technology. The bus also meets FAME II norms and follows the ‘Make in India’ vision.
Leadership Speaks
Mr. Dheeraj Hinduja said that double-decker buses have always been an important part of India’s city transport. He said this step is about bringing that legacy back in a cleaner way.
Mr. Ganesh Mani also mentioned that progress should always come with purpose. According to him, this project connects people with history while caring for the planet.
With electric double-deckers already running in cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Hyderabad, Switch Mobility buses are steadily expanding India’s electric buses network. And now, Delhi joins that journey — one clean ride at a time.
