The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region has named Puneet Kaura as its Chairperson for 2026–27. This was announced during their annual meeting in New Delhi on April 16.

Along with Kaura, Shradha Suri Marwah has been made Deputy Chairperson. She is already leading Subros Ltd, so she brings experience from manufacturing side.
Both of them will now look after the Northern Region, which is not small. It includes states like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and also some union territories. So, the role is quite big, not just limited to one area.
Many industries operate here, from small units to big companies. Even sectors linked to commercial trucks get indirect impact from policies shaped at this level.
What Will Be the Focus Now
Puneet Kaura shared some focus areas, around six points, but the overall idea is simple. He wants better policy support, more use of technology, growth for MSMEs, and also skill development.
He also talked about sustainability and connecting more with members. These things sound basic, but in real life they take time and effort.
Industries today are not same like before. Even traditional areas like bus manufacturing are slowly changing with new technology, so support systems also need to adjust.
CII’s Role Is Still Important
The Confederation of Indian Industry is not a government body. The Confederation of Indian Industry still plays a very important role. The Confederation of Indian Industry works between companies and the government helping the companies and the government understand each other. Times small businesses do not have direct access to policymakers so organisations like the Confederation of Indian Industry help the small businesses put their voice forward.
The mini trucks sector and the logistics sector and other sectors also depend on policy clarity so these discussions about policy clarity matter more than they look from the outside and the discussions about policy clarity are really important, for the mini trucks sector and the logistics sector and other sectors.
What Can Be Expected Ahead
Now with new leadership, people will expect some direction. Puneet Kaura has experience, but still execution is the real thing which matters later. The coming year may not be very easy, because industries are already facing many changes. But at same time, there are chances also if things are handled properly.
Overall, this looks like a normal leadership update, but its effect can go wider. How policies shape and how industries respond, that will decide the real outcome.
