Ampstar will be the common brand for JSW Greentech's electric commercial vehicle portfolio. The company plans to initially focus on heavy-duty electric trucks, starting with 55-tonne tractor-trailers.
These vehicles are planned for applications such as steel, cement, mining and port operations. JSW Greentech will later expand its truck range with tippers, fixed-body trucks and dumpers.
The company says its battery architecture will be customised according to the customer's application. The trucks will be available with fixed and swappable battery options.

₹2,500 Crore Investment in New Plant
JSW Group is investing around ₹2,500 crore in the first phase of its electric commercial vehicle business. The greenfield manufacturing facility is spread across 90 acres and will have an annual production capacity of 15,000 vehicles.
The planned capacity includes 10,000 electric buses and 5,000 electric trucks every year. The plant will also include truck-cabin manufacturing, electric bus body building and battery-pack assembly.
JSW Greentech's official website also lists the same planned annual capacity of 10,000 E-Buses and 5,000 E-Trucks for the facility.
JSW Trucks to Target Closed-Loop Operations
In the initial phase, JSW Greentech plans to focus on closed-loop operations where vehicles follow fixed and predictable routes. These include movement between factories, mines, ports and other industrial locations.
Such operations can make it easier to install dedicated charging or battery-swapping infrastructure at fixed points. JSW's existing steel, cement and port businesses already use around 17,000 trucks, giving Ampstar a potential ecosystem for deploying its electric vehicles.
The company will initially follow a direct B2B sales model instead of building a nationwide dealership network. Vehicles will be offered through outright purchase, cost-per-kilometre and wet-lease models.
Electric Bus Range and Future Expansion
Along with trucks, Ampstar will offer electric buses measuring between 7 and 18 metres. The planned applications include staff transportation, city services, school buses and airport-tarmac operations.
The company has already received CMVR Type Approval for its 12-metre electric bus, supporting its entry into the commercial electric bus market.
