AP partners with EV companies to build new charging network and clean mobility system.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken a major step toward clean transport this week. The state signed a ₹515-crore agreement with a consortium led by ThunderPlus, along with ETO Motors and Roqit, to build a wide electric mobility and charging network across Andhra Pradesh.
This MoU was signed at the AP Partnership Summit was held in Visakhapatnam on November 18, 2025. The Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Industries & Commerce Minister TG Bharath were the chief guests. The Chief Minister reviewed the full EV plan and promised quick clearances so the project can start without delays. As EV demand rises, even in delivery trucks and electric truck transport, this new system will support cleaner road movement for both people and goods in the coming years.

The government said the program will open 1,450 direct jobs and 3,100 indirect jobs across the state. The project will also include women-led roles in fleet running, charging station operations, call support and full mobility management.
This is expected to help many families, especially in smaller towns, where people often depend on buses, pickups, and mini trucks for their daily commute and earnings.
ThunderPlus to Build Statewide Charging Network
ThunderPlus will take charge of the entire charging infrastructure. The company plans to install:
- 120 kW chargers every 25 km, and
- 1 MW ultra-fast chargers every 100 km on major intercity routes and highways.
ThunderPlus already runs a 3 MW charging hub in Vijayawada and 0.5 MW hubs in Nellajarla and Visakhapatnam. It is also working on the charging plan for the Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor, where both passenger EVs and electric buses will need strong charging support.
First Phase to Cover Amaravati & Visakhapatnam Regions
The project will start in two main clusters:
- Amaravati Capital Region – Gannavaram Airport, Vijayawada, Amaravati and Guntur
- Visakhapatnam Urban Region – NAD Junction, Pendurty, Simhachalam and Dwarakanagar
These places will get the first round of EV shuttles, charging setups, and digital ticketing. Later, the network will expand across the state.
Full EV Ecosystem Under One Plan
The consortium’s plan includes:
- EV manufacturing
- City and intercity EV operations
- Fast-charging stations
- A single digital ticketing app
Roqit will build the unified ticketing system, making it easy for people to book and switch between different transport modes with just one app.
Leaders Share Their Vision
Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus Solutions, said this partnership will help Andhra Pradesh grow into a national leader in clean mobility. He shared that the state now has the chance to build one of India’s strongest EV networks, something that will support daily travel as well as long routes used by buses, pickups and even truck fleets in the future. According to him, a strong system will make travel easier for students, office workers and families who depend on clean and affordable transport every day.
The consortium will now work with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, city bodies, transport departments and industrial corridor teams to make sure the project reaches every part of the state. The focus is to build the network step by step so that people start feeling the benefits on the ground — from better charging stations to smoother EV travel across towns and highways.
