Mahindra unveils BS6 range of Trucks and Buses at Auto Expo 2020

Mahindra Truck and Bus unveiled the new BS6 compliant range of commercial vehicles at Auto Expo 2020, which includes Blazo X range in HCV category, Furio range in ICV trucks category, Cruzio range of LP buses and new Cruzio Grande LPO bus platform.

The company is ready with the complete range of BS6 production and shall start the retails as soon as the BS6 fuel is being made available by the government. Driveline powering the BS6 Mahindra truck and bus range shall consist of the same tried and tested mPower and MDI tech engines, as used in BS4 era. The FuelSmart technology of multi drive mode gets continued in BS6 era, to offer different combinations of power and fuel economy as per requirements of load and road gradient.

The company has retained almost 90% of the parts in the transition from BS4 to BS6, which brings in cost economics for the commercial vehicle manufacturer and peace of mind for the owner transporter. Stepping into the future, world class SCR technology of emission controls will be the way forward. While in heavy commercial vehicles space, the company had already switched to SCR technology in BS4 phase itself, the LCV & ICV platforms will now be upgraded to SCR systems.

Speaking at the launch function, Mr Vinod Sahay, CEO, Mahindra Truck and Bus and Construction Equipment Divisions, said, “The launch of the new Cruzio bus range marks a defining moment for our Truck and Bus business as we have taken our new ICV bus platform to the next level of customer experience. Aimed at the Employee Transport, Maxi Cab and School Bus segments, Cruzio is all set to be a game-changer. It is one of the safest, most ergonomically designed and comfortable bus range that is expected to set new standards in the industry.”

Speaking at the occasion, the senior management shared that Mahindra Furio truck range will have a full range coverage in ILCV segment from 5 ton to 16 ton GVW, over a period. The new Cruzio Grande bus marks the entry of company’s bus portfolio in LPO segment, having passenger door on front overhang, ideal for staff transportation. Whereas the erstwhile Tourister Excelo and Tourster Cosmo range of Mahindra buses will be replaced by Cruzio range in LP segment. With a new platform and a completely new body, these buses shall create a lot of buzz and excitement amongst the customers.
