Gurugram Municipal Corporation will purchase 100 electric vehicles to collect garbage.

MCG has requested a sanction of Rs 50 lakh from the civic body's CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) fund to purchase the mini truck.

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has decided to purchase 100 battery-powered electric mini trucks and hire at least 80 tractor-trailers for garbage collection.

Electric mini trucks will be able to reach homes easily and collect garbage. Each mini truck can collect up to one ton of garbage for a small area.

Bimalraj Outsourcing Pvt Ltd, recently appointed by MCG for door-to-door garbage collection, operates 350 vehicles. This number is likely to increase to 750 in the coming days.

MCG has appointed teams of officials to conduct regular checks to supervise waste collection.
