Eicher Trucks & Buses , a leading manufacturer of Commercial Vehicles in India, unveiled Pro 6041 and Pro 6049 next generation heavy trucks to address the emerging trend in transportation business. Eicher Pro 6041 is claimed to be India's first 41.2 Ton GVW truck, offering almost 3.5 Tons higher payload compared to the current 37 Ton GVW rigid trucks. Whereas, Eicher Pro 6049 is a 49 Ton GCW tractor trailer with 6x4 axle configuration. Both these next generation trucks are based on Pro 6000 Series platform.
Eicher Pro 6041 Truck
Due to stricter overloading restrictions, the Indian Trucks industry is fast upgrading towards higher GVW and payload trucks that offer better operating economics. This is the main reason behind exponential growth in sales figures of 37 Ton GVW rigid trucks and 49 Ton GCW tractor trailers, a major contributor to the MHCV volumes of Tata Trucks and Ashok Leyland Trucks.
Eicher Pro 6049 Tractor is a result of the product gap that existed for long, since Eicher Trucks & Buses did not have a tractor (trailer truck) in the 6x4 category. It will compete with the likes of Tata Signa 4923.S and Ashok Leyland 4923 . Eicher Pro 6041 rigid truck is a new segment & GVW node being created by VE Commercial Vehicles. It is essentially a 16 wheeler truck with twin tyre pusher lift axle replacing the single tyre lift axle available in usual 37 tonners. There are 2 load body length options of 28 feet and 30 feet offered in this Eicher truck.
Eicher Pro 6041 Truck Both the Eicher trucks are powered by 6 cylinder 7.7 Litres VEDX8 engine with SCR technology & managed by Volvo group's EMS 3.0. The mammoth 250 HP engine with 950 Nm max torque output can take on any load and manual 9 speed overdrive gearbox promises best in class gradeability as well as mileage.
Based on the modern next generation Pro 6000 series platform, both the trucks come equipped with Intelligent Driver Information System (IDIS) and Fuel Coaching feature that provides regular guidance to the driver to improvise driving habits for better mileage and performance. The sweet spot feature ensures best in class instantaneous mileage. Cruise control, introduced for the first time in Indian Trucking by Eicher Trucks, allows the driver to ride for longer distances without fatigue. The driver doesn't need to press the accelerator pedal while cruising along highways at a constant speed. Hydraulically tiltable, aerodynamic sleeper cabin with 4 point suspension and plenty of utility features ensure best in class driver comfort. Tilt & telescopic steering in complete range of Eicher Trucks ensure drivers of all fit & finish to adjust steering wheel according to their size.
Tata Signa 4323.T It is to be noted that Ashok Leyland had recently showcased their new 41 Ton rigid truck, Ashok Leyland 4123, at Global Dealers Conference in Chennai recently. And Tata Motors publicly showcased India's first 6 axle rigid truck, Tata Signa 4323.T at Auto Expo Greater Noida, earlier this year. It will take some more time to make out the clear preference of transporter fleet owners towards a 5 axle 16 wheeler truck or a 6 axle 16 wheeler truck.
